A Short History of abs brake systems, ltd.
Our beginnings are traced back approximately 20 years when we first started supplying the Automotive Rebuilder Industry.
As a Manufacturer Supplier, we have had the opportunity to watch our
companies grow and know that in some small measure, it was due to the mutually
beneficial relationship we have shared.
For years, Automotive Components International (ACI)
had satisfied the Automotive Rebuilder’s needs, by supplying all of the bleeder
screws required for caliper rebuilding along with its specialty of manufacturing
some of the most difficult to find component parts.
ACI’s sister company, abs,
began by manufacturing a majority of the highest usage caliper rubber and
hardware part numbers, effectively covering a substantial portion of the Caliper
Rebuilder's overall needs.
abs was formed in 1995 and was initially distributed through our Bryan, Ohio
location. In September 2001, abs and ACI melded, so as to service
our customers from one centralized Midwest location as abs brake systems,
In New York City, a dynamic innovator in the automotive industry, AMC, Inc. (Automotive Marketing Concepts, Inc.), was developing aftermarket disc-brake calipers and their component parts, specializing in the more difficult applications that other remanufacturer suppliers were not able to produce.
In January 2005, abs and AMC melded operations so customers may begin
enjoying reduced freight costs, faster delivery and the benefits of new products
coming to market, more quickly.
From our Defiance, Ohio facilities, which are more than twice the size of
our former location, abs distributes hundreds of part numbers,
including Bleeder Screws, Dust Boots, Bushings, Steel Sleeves, Caliper Bolts,
Piston assemblies and their component parts and assorted specialty parts.
We are now manufacturing the most popular Pad Clips, Pad Springs and
Copper Washers; further rounding out our already extensive line. Currently, we
are working on numerous other projects that will further expand each of these
Our eventual goal is to supply a full line of disc-brake caliper component parts and become a true
“one source for all”
to the remanufacturer.
to the remanufacturer.
Relationships that stand the test of time
We have strengthened our resources by establishing close working
relationships with OEM quality suppliers, allowing us the ability to manufacture
not only brake system components, but also any item, whether stamped, cold
formed, turned, molded or cast. Our most recent project is producing chassis
parts for the Ford Taurus, supplied to the largest automotive aftermarket
manufacturer in the world.
It is through "partnering" with our customers that we have been
able to expand and continuously "grow" our company and its offering,
so as to serve you better.
